Eating slowly will enable one to know when they’re full to stop eating to avoid taking in excessive calories into the body which will be later stored as fat if one can’t expend them. Eating fast does the opposite.

When you eat food, if you eat slowly, you will consume fewer calories. Eating food slowly prevents you from overeating because it gives extra time to the brain to receive signals from a full stomach. Eating food slowly also facilitates proper digestion and limits your portion size.
