What the number of calories to be consumed for weight loss?

Since consuming so much calories than the body can expend gives us body fat but the right calories one should consumed as a man or woman to avoid gaining weight?

The number of calories to be consumed for weight loss is 1,000 to 1,500 for women and 1,500 to 2,000 for men.
